The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) on Monday said it will only admit patients who have already tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

PGH Spokesperson Dr. Jonas del Rosario said the hospital will no longer admit persons under investigation (PUIs) to focus on attending to patients who are COVID-19 positive.
“Ayaw na po namin tumanggap ng PUIs dahil itong 130 beds ay para sa mga may COVID-19,” Del Rosario told DZMM radio.
Del Rosario also said PGH will specifically cater to “moderate to severe” COVID-19 cases.
The PGH spokesperson also said patients who have no referral from the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) cannot just walk-in to the hospital for admission.
“Pag referral center ka...ang patakaran po, ang pupuntahan nyo pong hospital ay iyong malapit sa inyo para i-screen at i-test. Eto pong referring hospital na ito, sila ang makikipag coordinate sa RESU, ‘yung RESU ang tatawag sa PGH,” del Rosario said.
(If you are a referral center...the protocol is, the patient must first go to the hospital nearest to them for screening and testing, Then the referring hospital will coordinate with RESU, and then RESU will coordinate with us.)
“Lahat po ng pasyente namin kailangang coordinated,” he added.
(All our patients must be coordinated with us first.)
Del Rosario also said the hospital will be closing its triage in Padre Faura where PUIs used to walk in.
For non-COVID-19 health concerns, the PGH said it will still admit patients with “life and limb-threatening” emergencies such as heart attack, stroke, bleeding, and imminent deliveries.
