PCSO to lose P3 billion in revenues due to COVID-19 crisis

On March 17, PCSO temporarily suspended the operations of Lotto, Digit Games, and Keno in the whole country, and Small Town Lottery (STL) in Luzon due to spread of COVID-19. “Sa loob ng isang buwan na pag-hinto ng ating games, P3 billion po ang mawawala sa atin dahil sa COVID-19 (We will lose about P3 billion because of the suspension caused by COVID-19),” Garma said. As COVID-19 continues to devastate the country, the PCSO general manager said the agency provided additional funds to Malasakit Centers in hospitals to augment their financial assistance to the public. “Sa Lung Center of the Philippines kung saan P1 million sa isang araw ang naka-allot po para doon; Philippine Children’s Medical Center P400,000; Philippine General Hospital P1.5 million; Philippine Heart Center P500,000; and Rizal Medical Center, Taguig-Pateros District Hospital tig P400,000 po, a day po iyan. So ito po ang distribution na minadali naming sa mga hospital na may Malasakit Center,” Garma said. Garma assured the public that the PCSO will still be able to provide funds for the country’s battle against the dreaded COVID-19. “Our STLs in Visayas and Mindanao are still operating, but we are constantly monitoring the situation. I am assuring the public that we still have funds,” she said. According to the PCSO general manager, the PCSO Board has already approved P1.4 billion to fund the national government’s fight against COVID-19.
