Pasig gov't to start distributing food packs to residents March 23

The local government of Pasig City will start distributing food packs to its residents affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on Monday, March 23.

(KEVIN TRISTAN ESPIRITU / MANILA BULLETIN) The local government of Pasig City will start distributing food packs to its residents affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on Monday, March 23. Mayor Vico Sotto said delivery of the 400,000 food packs that the city government has purchased has begun. The food packs, which is worth more than P158 million, contains rice and canned goods. Each food pack costs P397. “Simula ng distribusyon sa Lunes (The distribution will start on Monday),” the city mayor said. “Gagawin natin ang lahat ng makakaya para mas marami ang makakuha pero hindi natin matatapos ang 100,000 target families sa iisang araw (We will do everything we can to ensure that a lot could receive the food packs but we will not reach the 100,000 target families within a day).” To streamline the distribution of relief packs, the local chief executive said in his Facebook page that they will tap the barangay for the distribution of food stubs or vouchers to its residents. “At least once a week per family ang distribusyon (The distribution of food packs will be once a week per family),” Sotto noted. Likewise, the mayor has appealed for the patience of his constituents for the relief efforts will not be easy. “Please be patient. Malaki ang Pasig at hindi po madali ang gagawin natin (Pasig is a big city and what we’re going to do will not be easy),” he said. Sotto announced last week that the city government has procured food packs as part of its efforts to aid Pasigueños affected by the quarantine enforced by the national government due to the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) “Tulong po ito ng lokal na pamahalaan sa mga nangangailangan, lalo na't maraming di nakakapagtrabaho ngayong community quarantine (This is the assistance of the local government to those in need, especially those who could not work during the community quarantine),” he said.
