Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Tuesday ordered the temporary closure of Landers supermarket for its failure to observe physical distancing measures.

"Landers Ugong is temporarily closed/suspended for failure to implement minimum health safety standards," Sotto wrote in a Facebook post.
The supermarket will be temporarily closed until July 27, after three consecutive days of inspection showed that shoppers were not observing physical distancing in the grocery aisles.
"Usually when we suspend businesses for this reason, we don't announce the name. We don't want them to have bad publicity; we just want their customers to be safe. But this is a big business, so you will probably hear it anyway," he added.
The local executive said that other areas of the store, including the barbershop, plant shop, the pharmacy, and the parking may remain operational.
"Only the grocery is temporarily closed… We encourage them to use the next few days to improve their health/safety protocols," Sotto added.
Sotto also said the management has expressed its intent to make the necessary adjustments.
