Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said on Friday that she would decide in two weeks whether to allow or not the opening of cinemas in the city.

Rubiano said the city has more than 20 cinemas and their opening will help kick-start the local economy. However, because of the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the city, the city government is focusing its efforts on containing further infections.
She said about 20 out of the 77 barangays in the city that were placed under localized community quarantine will graduate after finishing the 14-day quarantine on Friday (March 5).
The mayor also said that of the 77 barangays with 210 households placed under localized community quarantine, Barangay 183 was totally locked down for recording a total of 33 active cases.
Rubiano said the city government continues to conduct aggressive testing with more than 300 individuals being tested per day.
She said those who will yield positive results for COVID-19 will immediately be placed under quarantine and treatment.
The mayor, herself a COVID patient, appealed to city residents not to be complacent and to strictly follow the health protocols.
Rubiano also urged residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
