Pasay City gov't helps provide transport home for 771 persons stranded at NAIA

The Pasay City government, in coordination with national government agencies, started sending home to their provinces the 771 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in the vicinity of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) who were unable to travel due to canceled flights or their inability to secure plane tickets.
Based on the data of the Pasay City government, their effort to send the LSIs started on June 6 and ended June 17.
The Pasay City government said there were some 258 LSIs at NAIA Terminal 2, 56 at Terminal 3, and about 304 under the NAIA Expressway. They were transferred and attended to at the Villamor Airbase Elementary School.
Those LSIs were later joined by another batch of 31 who camped out at the school gate.
The city government said that 122 individuals were accommodated at the Philippine State College of Aeronautics.
The city government provided them with food and other essentials upon the instruction of Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano and with the help of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and civic groups.
The mayor said the LSIs were sent to their provinces aboard Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia commercial flights, special commercial flights, navy vessels, private jets, and Philippine Air Force C-130 and C-295 aircraft.
Rubiano said the destinations of the LSIs were Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan via Cagayan de Oro, General Santos City (GenSan), Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu, Dumaguete, Tagbilaran, Cotabato, Dipolog, GenSan port, Davao port, Pagadian, Naga, Zamboanga, and South Cotabato.
