Parents of minors who violate curfew hours may face charges, imprisonment

The Manila city government said on Wednesday (March 17) that parents of minors who continue to violate curfew hours will be held accountable for their children's violation of City Ordinance No. 8243, the Anti-Child Endangerment Act.

The penalties for parents whose minor children will be caught violating the ordinance include a fine of P2,000 or one-month imprisonment if the minor is 15 to 17 years old. 

If the age of the minor is 13 to 14 years old, the fine increases to P3,000 or imprisonment of three months.

About six months of imprisonment or a fine of P5,000 will be imposed if the minor is 12 years old and below. 

On March 15, the city of Manila began strictly enforcing unified curfew hours with other Metro Manila cities and other minimum health protocols amid the surge in COVID-19 cases.
