Parañaque closes several offices for three-day disinfection

Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez ordered the temporary closure of several offices at City Hall for three-days upon the recommendation of the city health office to give way to containment and disinfection activities.

The offices that will be closed starting today, July 20 until July 22 are: all offices of the judiciary and other national government agencies; all offices of the City Council; Treasurer’s office; and the Business Permit and Licensing Office.

The said offices will resume operation on Thursday, July 23.

Last month, the Treasurer’s office and the Office of the City Council were also closed for three-days for disinfection after several employees contracted the virus.

City Treasurer Anthony Pulmano said employees who tested positive for the virus were placed under 14-day quarantine.

On Sunday, Olivarez said he will impose a two-week lockdown in the city if COVID-19 cases will not go down.

Olivarez appealed to his constituents to unite and cooperate in the battle against the virus as the number of confirmed cases nears 2,000.

“At this critical moment, I’m appealing again to my constituents to come together to defeat this terrible disease. Each of us has role to play, whether through unselfishness or humanity,” said Olivarez.
