Palace: Distribution of SAP2 expected to be completed this week

In his Thursday press briefing, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was expecting that the distribution of the second wave of the cash aid will be completed this week. The second tranche of the SAP started in Baguio City last week. Roque said on Thursday that 1.3 million families who are members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were already paid. The waitlisted beneficiaries in Kabayan, Benguet; Balaoan, La Union; and Mabalacat, Pampanga were already paid. The distribution of the cash aid to beneficiaries in Bulacan was also ongoing. "The waitlisted beneficiaries are based on the submitted certified list of LGUs (local government units) and have undergone deduplication," Roque said. "Ito po ang kabahagi ng 5 million na utos ni Presidente na bigyan ng ayuda (These are the 5 million beneficiaries that the President ordered to be included in the program)," he added. Meanwhile, Roque reiterated that the distribution of the cash aid took a while to commence because of the strict verification process to weed out duplicate names on the list of beneficiaries. The following areas are the ones included in the distribution of the second tranche of the cash aid: 1. Benguet 2. Pangasinan 3. Region III (except Aurora Province) 4. NCR 5. Region IV-A 6. Albay Province 7. Iloilo 8. Bacolod City 9. Cebu Province 10. Zamboanga City 11. Davao City It was announced late last month the distribution of the second tranche of the cash subsidy would be automated. The DSWD has tapped the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the on-site distribution of cash aid.
