Palace designates BCDA's Dizon deputy chief implementer of gov't's coronavirus response

By Genalyn Kabiling Malacañang has designated Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President Vivencio Dizon the deputy chief implementer of the government's coronavirus response. (PCOO/ MANILA BULLETIN) (PCOO/ MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) Dizon's designation paper was signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea Friday upon the order of President Duterte. Dizon will be assisting Presidential peace adviser Carlito Galvez Jr., currently the chief implementer of the government's policy against the new coronavirus disease. "In compliance with the instruction of the President and in order to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of public service, please be informed that Mr. Vivencio B. Dizon, President and CEO of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority and Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects, is hereby designated as Deputy Chief Implementer of the Philippines' declared national policy against COVID-19, effective immediately," Medialdea wrote in Dizon's designation paper. Prior to his latest work assignment, Dizon had been helping the national task force on COVID-19 response, particularly in the conversion of several buildings into temporary quarantine and isolation facilities. As of April 29, the government has converted 17 COVID-19 facilities that have a 3,086-bed capacity. These will accommodate COVID-19 positive, mild, and asymptomatic cases. Among the quarantine sites are the World Trade Center, Quezon Institute, Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Philippine International Convention Center, Philippine Arena, and Ultra stadium.
