Malacañang said the Duterte administration has enjoyed "great four years" despite the challenges it has faced, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his Thursday press briefing, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque was asked to assess the past four years of President Duterte's presidency. Duterte entered his fifth year in office on June 30.
"It’s been a great four years," he said.
"Meron po tayong pagsubok pero dahil meron tayong very sound fundamentals, makakaahon din po tayo (We have challenges but since we have very sound fundamentals, we will eventually overcome these)," he added.
Roque, in particular, cited the country's fight against COVID-19 and how the "overwhelming majority" of Filipinos support the President's policies.
He added that under President Duterte, the country was able to defy the initial projection of a University of the Philippines (UP) study that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country would have reached 3 million if no lockdown was declared.
To date, the county has reported 38,511 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,270 of whom died while 10,438 recovered.
Economy
Roque likewise highlighted the Philippines being the "best performing economy not just in Southeast Asia. One of the best in the whole world."
According to Roque, the country averaged 6.5 percent growth annually in the past four years. He added that inflation is under control and that interest rates were low.
"We had a record credit rating attesting to the fact na naniniwala po ang mga nagpapautang na tama ang ating mga ginagawang polisiya (creditors believe that we have implemented the right policies)," he said.
"So it was actually a great performance as far as the economy is concerned," he added.
Approval rating
Roque also mentioned how President Duterte's approval rating stayed high, saying this only shows that the public is supporting his policies.
"As far as approval of the President is concerned, hindi po bumababa ‘yan sa 80 porsyento (it doesn't go below 80 percent)," he said.
"So, approve po ang taumbayan sa mga ginagawa ng Presidente. Kasama na din po diyan yung kampanya sa pinagbabawal na droga (So the public approves what the President is doing, and this includes the drug war)," he added.
