PAL made 10 cargo-only flights to move essential medical supplies

By Ariel Fernandez  Due to numerous requests for the transport of highly essential goods, mostly medical supplies, the Philippine Airlines (PAL) continues to mount "cargo-only" flights to transport commodities such as medical products, supplies and equipment. (Manila Bulletin File Photo) (Manila Bulletin File Photo) The government's Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) implementing the intensified community quarantine has given carriers the green light to operate 'cargo-only' flights. Six flights last March 25 and four flights on Thursday, March 26 are the most recent cargo-only flights but many flights of this type have been mounted much earlier. PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said "our cargo team has been receiving numerous requests for the transport of highly essential goods, mostly medical supplies. We expect this demand to continue and we are committed to serve your essential cargo needs." The cargo-only flights made were as follows: 25 March Cargo-Only Flights PR8121 MNL-CEB PR8122 CEB-MNL 2P9123 MNL-DVO 2P9124 DVO-MNL 2P9125 MNL-DVO 2P9126 DVO-MNL 26 March Cargo-Only Flights 2P9521 MNL-CGY 2P9522 CGY-MNL 2P9541 MNL-ILO 2P9542 ILO-MNL On Friday, Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 2 closed its operation after Philippine Airlines' regular international commercial flights have been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic. MIAA earlier closed NAIA domestic terminals 4 and 3 after a ban on domestic air travel was issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID).#
