Pacquiao comments on possible support from Duterte, Robredo for his candidacy
Presidential aspirant Sen. Manny Pacquiao believes support for his candidacy by the two highest officials of the country is a huge blessing to his bid to rule the country.

In a virtual media interview on Wednesday, Jan. 26, Pacquiao said backing from President Rodrigo Duterte will be a “big thing” for him but he would rather wait for the final decision of the chief executive.
Asked to comment on Vice President Leni Robredo’s statement that he is her choice if she is not running for the presidency, Pacquiao was profuse with thanks for the endorsement.
“Nagpapasalamat ako nang malaki sa ating Bise Presidente sa pag-mention ng pangalan ko, sa pagtitiwala. (I thank the vice president for mentioning my name, for her trust.)” Pacquiao told reporters.
His reaction to a possible Duterte backing: “Kung magsuporta sa akin ang Pangulo, malaking bagay sa akin iyan. Respetuhin natin ang desisyon niya. (If the president will support me, that’s a big thing for me. We shall respect his decision.” He was also asked to comment on Duterte’s recent pronouncement about presidential aspirants whom he believed do not deserve to be president.
The chief executive said one of the candidates has no capability to lead a nation while another is too corrupt to earn the seat in Malacañang.
In November, 2021, Duterte, who withdrew his candidacy for senator and did not push through with a vice presidential bid, disclosed that one of the candidates for president is a cocaine user.
Pacquiao believed he is not being alluded to by the Duterte ‘blind accusations.
The country’s boxing legend also responded to a question about a possible endorsement from the PDP-Laban (Cusi faction) which he and his allies blamed for a split in the once most formidable political party.
HIs response: “Ayaw ko makipag-away. Gusto ko pagkakaisa. (I don’t like to fight. I want unity).
“Ayaw ko ng mga tiwali. Kailangan ngayon, taumbayan naman ang manalo. (I dislike those who are corrupt. We need this time for the people to finally win),” the Mindanaoan senator stressed.
