P5M worth of PRC swab testing kits are allocated for suspected COVID-19 cases and medical frontliners in Bulacan

(FREDDIE VELEZ / MANILA BULLETIN) (FREDDIE VELEZ / MANILA BULLETIN) Their order of 1,428 swab testing kits ordered from the Philippine Red Cross have arrived for use on suspected COVID-19 cases and medical front-liners arrived Thursday. Worth about P5 million pesos, these testing kits were already inspected or checked by the doctors and personnel from the Bulacan Incident Command Post. A few days ago, the PGB, through Governor Daniel R. Fernando, ink the memorandum of agreement with the PRC for the acquisition of the 1,428 swab test kits worth P5 million pesos for mass testing. This was after a special online session held by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan presided by Vice Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado approved the Bulacan government to enter an MOA. Fernando said that the suspected COVID-19 cases and medical frontliners testing will be a big help, because the swab test specimens will only take 48 hours to analyze in the molecular laboratory in Mandaluyong accredited by the research institute for tropical medicine. As of 4:00 p.m. on May 6, 2020, the province has reported 127 confirmed positive cases with 38 recoveries and 26 deaths. There are also 132 probable cases and 838 suspected cases in the province.
