The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office III said it has already released P1.6 million to 166 stranded or displaced Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Central Luzon through the Department of Labor and Employment's Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong" program (DOLE AKAP) program.

"OWWA officially started accepting 'DOLE-AKAP for OFWs' on-line applications last April 13, 2020 while the DOLE releases the financial assistance to approved applications of the workers," said OWWA RWO3 in a statement.
OWWA said the on-line application was created to cater to OFWs who are affected with the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine that started last March 17, 2020.
"They only need to visit the website http://dole-akap.owwa.gov.ph, fill-out the on-line form and attach necessary documents needed," the agency said.
OWWA said they will continue to evaluate and process all the received applications together with the DOLE.
On Sunday, the DOLE said it already received more than 30,000 requests for assistance from OFWs wanting to avail of the AKAP program.
The DOLE earlier said overseas workers, both land-based and sea-based, who have been displaced by a lockdown in a foreign country will be given a one-time financial assistance amounting to P10,000 or USD200, or the equivalent amount in their host countries, under the AKAP program.
The program seeks to assist about 150,000 OFWs on-site or in host countries affected by lockdowns and those in the Philippines who are unable to return to their destinations.
