OVP starts distribution of locally-made PPEs to hospitals

By Raymund Antonio The office of Vice President (OVP) Leni Robredo has delivered the first batch of locally-made protective suits for health workers and frontliners. It was OVP’s partner, Power Fashion, Inc., affiliate of retail brands BAYO, Unica Hija, and Viseversa, that supplied the initial batch of protective suits on Monday. Fashion designer Mich Dulce and members of the Manila Protective Gear Sewing Club initiated efforts to design the suits for COVID-19 frontliners, and medical experts approved the design pattern made by Joey Socorro using tafetta silver back lining, a water repellant fabric. The vice president expects the locally-designed and -sewn protective gear will augment the supplies of those on frontlines fighting against COVID-19. Robredo was grateful to Power Fashion, Inc. for its donations. “It also warms my heart to know that this initiative also helps our countrymen who cannot work normally due to enhanced community quarantine limitations,” she said. According to Power Fashion, Inc., the project aims to provide their seamstresses and other employees with work while they also help the frontliners, her post read. The cash donations collected through the OVP’s fund drive have already reached P51.67 million that will be used to buy 118,072 PPE sets for health workers.
