Responding to the needs of health workers and frontliners, the office of Vice President Leni Robredo on March 29, Sunday, opened the second dormitory that they can use for free amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Vice President Leni Robredo
(OVP / MANILA BULLETIN) Robredo, a leader of the opposition, announced the opening of the free dorm at Teachers Village, Quezon City in her radio show “BISErbisyong Leni,” aired over dzXL. “Itong dorm na ito, mas marami iyong maa-accommodate. Kung hindi ako nagkakamali, 19 yata o 20 (This dorm can accommodate more people—about 19 to 20, if I’m not mistaken),” she said. Each bedroom has a mattress, an electric fan, a pillow, and a blanket provided by private partners of Angat Buhay, Robredo‘s flagship anti-poverty program. But due to limited space in the dorm, the services will be on a “first come, first served” basis. The vice president said the newly opened dorm will be “very ideal” for health workers from nearby hospitals in Quezon City, such as the Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, East Avenue Medical Center, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, and the National Kidney and Transplant Institute. “These hospitals are within walking distance from the dormitory,” Robredo said. The OVP partnered with the University of the Philippines Law Class 1990-A, Rotary Club of San Juan Del Monte, and Spouses of Rotary Club of San Juan North to provide COVID-19 frontliners a free dorm. Those who are interested to avail of the dormitory can apply through the vice president’s official Facebook account, VP Leni Robredo, or send a message via [email protected]or 0998-5917408.
