On the fourth day of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine, Vice President Leni Robredo’s office has also distributed PPE sets to Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery, Batangas and Ospital ng Capas in Capas, Tarlac.
This was on top of the 10 Manila-based hospitals that received the latest batch of PPEs from the OVP.
Robredo said her office was able to deliver a total of 15,000 PPE sets for the health workers who are on the frontlines of preventing the spread of COVID-19.
“Patuloy ang pamimigay ng OVP ng mga personal protective equipment (PPE) sa ating mga frontliners laban sa #COVID19!” she said in a Facebook post.

The vice president thanked logistics companies such as Transportify, Ninjavan, RAF Forwarding, and the foundation of LBC Express Inc. that delivered the PPE sets to the hospitals.

As of Saturday afternoon, the Philippines has recorded 32 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total up to 262, with 19 casualties.
Medical professionals and health workers have been working tirelessly to contain the novel coronavirus outbreak, which the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared pandemic.
But the shortage of PPEs that will protect them from the deadly virus has put their lives at risk.
The OVP delivered the second batch of PPE sets for health workers and frontliners in the following hospitals: National Kidney and Transplant Institute, National Children’s Hospital, Philippine Children's Medical Center, and Novaliches District Hospital, all located in Quezon City.
In Manila, Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital, Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, and Ospital ng Maynila received the PPEs.
The others were Amang Rodriguez Medical Center in Marikina City, Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City, and Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Alabang, Muntinlupa.
Robredo’s office also donated P5.3 million worth of extraction kits that will be used for 12,750 coronaviru tests at RITM.
“We know how testing is crucial in this time of COVID. Massive testing was South Korea’s best practice and they have one of the lowest mortality rates. When we asked RITM how can we help with the testing, they said they need extraction kits,” Robredo said in a separate post.
