The Office of the Vice President has donated several boxes of personal protective equipment (PPEs) to the health workers of Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and about P5.3 million worth of extraction kits as assistance to the front liners of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country.

Vice President Leni Robredo said in a Facebook post Friday that all these were already delivered to the RITM on Thursday.
According to her, the extraction kits can be used to help get samples of about 12,750 tests.
Aside from the RITM, Robredo said, the kits can also be used by other subnational laboratories in various parts of the country, which are currently conducting surveillance of the COVID-19 outbreak. These include: the Lung Center of the Philippines, San Lazaro Hospital, UP-National Institutes of Health, Baguio General Hospital in Baguio City, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City and Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.
The vice president expressed belief that the government should consider putting massive testing efforts in its priorities.
Through this, she said, the government could immediately determine who are those who are already infected and give them necessary medical assistance.
"Isa itong mahalagang hakbang, lalo na’t karamihan ng mga kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa ay naitala sa Metro Manila, kung saan maraming mga high-density areas ," Robredo said in a statement.
Robredo underscored that the solution to the problem is having a clear vision of it.
“We hope that through this, we can strengthen our efforts in our fight against COVID-19]," she said in Pilipino.
