Over 400 tested at Quirino Grandstand drive-thru testing facility on soft launch
A total of 445 individuals underwent free coronavirus disease (COVID-19) test on the soft launch of Manila City’s second drive-thru testing center at the Quirino Grandstand grounds Saturday.

Data from the Manila Health Department (MHD) showed that almost half of those tested are not residents of the city.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said they decided to open a second drive-thru testing facility after a queue of vehicles at the city’s first drive-thru free testing center in front of the Andres Bonifacio Monument near city hall was already causing traffic after it opened to the public Wednesday, July 15.
Both residents and non-residents of the city on board four, three, two-wheeled vehicles were accommodated.
Most of those tested (327 persons) at Quirino Grandstand endured the long queue to have "peace of mind" amid the spread of the contagious disease.
The Quirino Grandstand drive-thru COVID-19 testing center, that can accommodate around 700 individuals, will be officially opened on Monday, July 20.
There will be six lanes and each type of vehicle will have their designated lane.
Both drive-thru testing facilities – near city hall and Quirino Grandstand -- will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays.
MHD employees will be stationed at the testing facilities to collect blood samples that will be processed by the three serology testing machines. New needles are used per test.
The serology machines reportedly have an accuracy rate of 99.6 percent and are installed at three district hospitals in the city -- the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Sampaloc and Ospital ng Maynila.
Domagoso is planning to buy a fourth serology machine that will increase the city’s testing capacity to 89,600 tests per month.
Those tested will be informed of their results in at least 24 hours via text message or mail.
