These representatives will be given home quarantine passes where information including the name of the household head, their address, and name of barangay chairman are indicated, a Manila Barangay Bureau (MBB) official said.
In a memorandum addressed to barangay chairmen, MBB Director Romeo Bagay said the city government recognizes the need for residents to leave their houses and buy basic necessities amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat.
This is also in line with the national government's strict home quarantine guidelines.
In the light of the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country, President Duterte placed Luzon under enhanced community quarantine from March 17 to April 12.
During the quarantine, classes are suspended while private companies, with some exemptions, are urged to adopt more flexible working arrangements.
Mass transportation was also banned to further discourage people from going out of their houses.
The Department of Health (DOH) reported six new COVID-19 cases, bringing the Philippine total to 193, with 14 fatalities.Â
