The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) announced on Sunday that it has distributed nearly 29,000 pieces of assorted masks, 350 coverall suits, and hundreds of bottled waters to eight hospitals in Metro Manila to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

OCD administrator Ricardo Jalad said the items were procured by the agency to augment the resources of various hospitals in the capital region which are attending to COVID-19 patients.
Jalad said 5,000 surgical masks each were given to East Avenue Medical Center and Philippine Children's Medical Center in Quezon City, while 500 n95 masks were brought to Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium in Caloocan City.
OCD personnel also turned over 100 coverall suits, 500 surgical masks, and 10 boxes of bottled water to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City.
Meanwhile, the Camp Emilio Aguinaldo Station Hospital, also in QC, received 400 surgical masks and 100 coverall suits.
A total of 5,000 surgical masks and 50 coverall suits were delivered to the Philippine Heart Center; 2,000 surgical masks, 500 n95 masks, 100 coverall suits, and 175 pieces of bottled water went to the Lung Center of the Philippines; while 250 coverall suits were given to the Philippine General Hospital in Manila.
Jalad called on the public to help healthcare workers and other frontliners by observing precautionary measures amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
"Observe social distancing, stay at home, do frequent hand washing, and follow advisories of the authorities," he said.
