The entire world is confronted with an "unprecedented" health crisis, but the Philippine government remains confident that the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic can be defeated.

With the month-long lockdown in Luzon already in effect, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles called for patience, calm and cooperation with government quarantine guidelines to help contain the spread of the disease.
"We appeal for patience and calm as we and the whole world face an unprecedented crisis––one that can be overcome if all of us focus at the singular task at hand: saving each other’s lives," he said over state-run People's Television network Sunday.
"Together, we can beat Covid-19; together, we heal as one," said Nograles, spokesman of the inter-agency task force for the management of emerging infectious diseases, said.
Nograles reminded the public to stay at home, and observe other rules prescribed during the quarantine period in Luzon.
"Mga kababayan, sana sa susunod na araw, huwag po nating kalimutan: Bahay muna. Buhay muna. Atin pong tandaan ang mariing paalala ni Pangulong Duterte: kung magkanya-kanya tayo, hindi tayo magtatagumpay (To our countrymen, n the coming days let's not forget: Stay at home. Lives first. Let's remember President Duterte's reminder that if we only think of ourselves, we will not succeed)," he said.
The President has placed Luzon under an enhanced community quarantine, that covers mandatory home quarantine, suspension of public transport, work-from-home arrangements in most companies, and travel restrictions.
The month-long Luzon-wide quarantine came following concerns about rapid increase in the cases of coronavirus in the country. It will last until April 12 "unless earlier lifted or extended as circumstances may warrant."
