Speaking at the Laging Handa briefing, Wee said they have been coordinating with Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Health to know the situation on the ground and “no confirmed cases” among Filipinos were reported.
The envoy said Filipinos in Indonesia are generally not affected by the coronavirus pandemic since many are professionals with stable jobs.
He said they are attending to the requests of some Filipinos to return to the Philippines, including some tourists who were stranded due to the outbreak of the disease, by arranging for their flights “at their own expense.”
Also, the embassy is coordinating with the employers of a handful of Filipino workers who lost their jobs due to COVID-19.
According to the latest tally of COVID-monitoring online platform Worldometer, Indonesia’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases is now at 15,438, with 1,028 deaths and 3,287 recoveries.
