Negros Occidental has 5 new COVID-19 cases

By Glazyl Masculino BACOLOD CITY - Two more overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and three locally stranded individuals (LSIs) were infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Negros Occidental, according to the provincial government. On Tuesday, a 35-year-old male seafarer from Binalbagan town was the 23rd COVID-19 positive patient in the province. He arrived here on June 8 from Manila via 2Go Malasakit Voyage. His first swab test taken on April 28 showed that he was positive for the virus. It was followed by another swab test on May 17, indicating negative results. He again underwent another swab test on June 5, indicating negative results. His fourth swab test was taken on June 11 and the results came out five days later, confirming that he was again positive for COVID-19. The 24th COVID-19 positive patient in the province is a 46-year-old male from San Carlos City. He arrived in the province via a sweeper flight on June 8 and underwent a swab test two days later. The swab test results came out on June 16, indicating that he was positive for the virus. Both OFWs are asymptomatic and are currently quarantined in a facility. The following day, the province reported three more cases in LSIs from Escalante City, and the towns of Hinoba-an and Cauayan, bringing the total to 27. Patient No. 25 is a 30-year-old male who had a travel history to Bohol while the two other patients, a 24-year-old male and a 19-year-old female came from Cebu. The three are quarantined in a facility. Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said that nine COVID-19 patients in the province have already recovered.
