Four persons selling overpriced scanners have been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during an entrapment operation in Manila on Tuesday, March 24.
Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Markk Perete said the operation was conducted by the NBI’s Special Action Unit (NBI-SAU).
During the operation, Perete said the NBI-SAU seized from the four suspects 60 thermals scanners.
“The subjects allegedly sold overpriced thermal scanners,” the DOJ spokesman said.
Perete noted that the thermal scanners were being sold at P5,000 per unit even though the price range of thermal scanners is between P800 to P1,500 per unit in the market.
“The arrested individuals were brought to the NBI main office for usual booking procedures and will be brought before the Manila Prosecutor's office for inquest tomorrow for profiteering and hoarding,” Perete said.
