Navotas residents warned to stay indoors after city gets first confirmed COVID-19 case

It is also where our Task Force NavoDAMPOT apprehends most of the violators of home quarantine," he said in his Facebook Live on Saturday. "Unless, we follow the quarantine rules, we can expect more cases of COVID-19 in our city,” he added. Before that, the local government reported its first case of COVID-19. According to the Navotas Public Information Office (PIO), the patient was rushed to the Navotas City Hospital (NCH) on March 24 due to difficulty of breathing. The patient, the public information office added, also had tuberculosis and died shortly after admission. Tiangco said the best way to stop the spread of COVID-19 is to stay at home. “Think of it this way: when you step out of your house, every person you meet has COVID-19. Worse, you can bring the virus back to your home and infect your loved ones,” he said. As of Saturday (March 28), Navotas has 125 persons under monitoring (PUMs) and 21 persons under investigation (PUIs) who are currently under quarantine or admitted at NCH. The city also recorded four PUI deaths -- of which one's test result came out negative for COVID-19, while three are still awaiting their results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.
