Muntinlupa eyes to extend lockdown in Alabang community to 2 weeks

The number of COVID-19 cases in the community increased to 10 including three patients who have recovered. There are also 98 probable cases as of June 2.
Fresnedi said the city government may extend the lockdown for Morning Breeze Homes to up to two weeks. “An extension of the lockdown in Morning Breeze is a possibility that we are considering should there be a need for such extension upon assessment of the situation. We ask for the cooperation of our residents in Morning Breeze to stay at home for the next days.
The lockdown aims to ensure their safety and the successful containment of the virus in their community,” he said.
The City Health Office (CHO) conducted targeted mass testing among Morning Breeze residents on May 27 and six people were immediately confirmed to be positive for COVID-19.
The test results of four symptomatic residents are pending. According to the CHO, it transferred the six COVID-19 patients to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa’s quarantine facility for treatment. During the lockdown, the CHO will continue to test residents.
Under the order, residents are barred from going out of their homes and they will be provided with relief food packs by the city’s Social Services Department and Barangay Alabang.
The Muntinlupa Police and Philippine Coast Guard-Bayanan Sub-Station are guarding Morning Breeze to ensure that residents are following orders to stay home.
Besides Morning Breeze, the city government is also studying to put under lockdown other areas in the city with a high number of confirmed COVID-19 cases. As of June 3, Muntinlupa has 236 COVID-19 positive cases including 163 recoveries and 32 deaths, leaving 41 active cases in the city.
The Muntinlupa City government may extend the extreme lockdown imposed in a community in Bgy. Alabang from three days to up to two weeks. This, if the number of COVID-19 cases will continue to increase.
