More than 418,000 low-income families in Metro Manila receive emergency subsidies

By Charissa Luci-Atienza More than 418,000 low-income families in Metro Manila have received their emergency subsidies amounting to P3 billion, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Tuesday. As of April 27, a total of P3,059,907,700 has been distributed to 418,388 beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) in the National Capital Region (NCR), according to the DSWD's SAP Monitoring Dashboard for Emergency Subsidy. Of the total number of households who received their subsidies, 212,738 are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), while the 205,650 are non-4Ps recipients. The total number of target SAP beneficiaries in the NCR is 1,784,923. Of the 17 LGUs, Caloocan City kept its standing of having the highest SAP payout amounting to P887.86 million for 115,880, based on the DSWD data. On the other hand, San Juan City still recorded lowest payout, distributing P10.1 million for 1,451 recipients. Next to Caloocan City, Manila City registered the second highest payout amounting to P377.25 million for 54,229 beneficiaries; followed by Quezon City with P312.74 million for 45,040; Valenzuela City with P247.89 million for 33,203 beneficiaries; Pasig City with P235.34 million for 31,326 beneficiaries; Marikina City with P167.14 million for 22,237 beneficiaries; Parañaque City with P130 million for 17,518 beneficiaries; and Mandaluyong City with P111.64 million for 15,265 beneficiaries. In terms of disbursed SAP funds, Taguig City landed the landed the ninth spot, distributing P110.94 million for 15,277 beneficiaries. It was followed by Malabon City with P105.54 million for 15,284 beneficiaries; Navotas City with P90.35 million for 13,029 beneficiaries; Muntinlupa City with P70.44 million for 10,344 beneficiaries; Las Piñas City with P69 million for 9,716 beneficiaries; Makati City with P65.52 million for 8,874 beneficiaries; Pasay City with P49.27 million for 7,091 beneficiaries; Pateros with P19 million for 2,624 beneficiaries; and San Juan City. In the NCR, low-income households are entitled to receive P8,000 cash aid. The DSWD has transferred P12.46 billion SAP funds to 17 LGUs to benefit 1,558,615 target low-income, non-4Ps families in the NCR.
