The Philippine vaccination program just got its own version of a “booster” with the arrival Thursday night of more than 480,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine as part of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) COVAX Facility. This ensures that the country’s massive rollout of vaccines for health workers will be sustained in the coming days.

WHO has also dispelled recent assertions that AstraZeneca would be hardly effective against the South Africa variant of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
