Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is now under quarantine after his driver who was infected with COVID-19 died.

In a Twitter post on Monday (March 15), the young mayor said that he will be under quarantine until March 24.
“Following DOH protocol, I’ll be in quarantine until March 24 (2 weeks from when he last drove for me). Will continue working via Zoom and phone,” he said in his tweet.
Sotto said his driver for five years, Vener Mollo, passed away last Saturday (March 13). Mollo was around 50 years old.
He said he and the other close contacts of his driver have already undergone RT-PCR (Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) tests.
“Mamayang hapon ang resulta. ‘Wag mag-alala. Ok naman po kaming lahat. Walang sintomas (The results will be released this afternoon, March 15. Don’t worry because we are all fine. No symptoms),” said Sotto in his Facebook update.
The mayor said he will finish his quarantine until March 24 which is in accordance with the health guidelines of the Department of Health (DOH).
“Posible kasing nag-i-incubate pa lang ang virus kaya negative (It is possible that the virus is still incubating that’s why the result turned out negative,” he said.
Sotto described his driver “Kuya Vener,” as a very jolly person who was always smiling even when he was being reprimanded.
“Nung hindi pa ako konsehal at nag-iisa pa lang siyang staff ko, kaming dalawa yung laging magkasama. Sinuyod namin ang mga eskenita't looban ng Pasig nang kaming dalawa lang.
Kwentuhan lang habang nasa sasakyan, mula umaga hanggang gabi (When I was still not a councilor, and he was my only staff, we were always together. We explored the alleys and inner streets of Pasig, just the two of us. We always talk inside the car from morning to night),” the mayor recalled.
“Isang mabuting asawa, ama, at kaibigan. Mahal na mahal siya ng mga tao. Mami-miss ka namin Kuya Vener. Mahal ka namin (He’s a good husband, father and friend. People love you so much. We will miss you, Kuya Vener. We love you),” he added.
