Manila LGU will 'never think twice' on imposing lockdown as COVID-19 cases rise

As the number of new and active cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the City of Manila rose to 1,151 Wednesday (March 10), Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said that if necessary, the city will impose a lockdown on districts or areas where the concentration of COVID-19 cases are.

"The city will never think twice about lockdown on districts or areas kung kailangan (if needed). Kaya nga hinihikayat nga natin yung ating barangay officials na 'wag na 'wag bibitaw sa labang ito (We're encouraging all the barangay officials to not give up on this fight),” Domagoso said.
The city government recorded 234 new infections, increasing the total number of active cases to 1,151, according to its latest case bulletin.
The case bulletin also showed 71 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries in the city to 27,710.
The total number of deaths is now at 818 with one new death.
“The increase in cases is alarming. It needs to be addressed and controlled. We don't want to go back to uncertainty. That's why the city is addressing it conservatively,” he said.
Domagoso placed Barangays 351, 725, and two hotels in Barangay 699 -- the Malate Bayview Mansion and Hop Inn Hotel under a four-day lockdown starting March 11, after a surge in COVID-19 cases in these areas.
