Mandaluyong Mayor Abalos put on home quarantine after exposure to COVID-19 patients.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita Abalos will undergo home quarantine after she was found to have been exposed to patients positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), city officials said.
“Upon contact tracing, it was found that Mayor Menchie Abalos had exposure to COVID-19 positive patients. She is currently asymptomatic,” said City Health Officer Dr. Alex Sta. Maria on the Facebook page of the City Health Department.
“I her to undergo home quarantine and will be monitored by our health personnel,” he city health official added.
Jimmy Isidro, City Public Information Office chief and the city mayor’s Chief-of-Staff, said Abalos will undergo home quarantine.
“The mayor will undergo home quarantine for 14-days. She will be working from home,” Isidro told the Manila Bulletin in a phone interview.
He assured that the services of the city government will continue amid the enhanced community quarantine.
As of 3:30 p.m. of March 28, Saturday, Mandaluyong has 39 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
According to its latest tally, the city has recorded three COVID-19 deaths and six deaths of persons under investigation (PUIs).
Moreover, there were 132 PUIs and 422 persons under monitoring (PUMs) for the disease in the city.
As of Saturday, Mandaluyong has 42 cleared PUMs, 13 cleared PUIs and eight persons “discharged.”
As part of its assistance, Isidro said that the city government has already turned over the 100,000 bags of groceries to local barangay officials.
The barangay personnel will now be in-charge of the distribution of the food relief, which he said, is still ongoing.
“We have already turned over 100,000 food bags to the barangay,” he said. “This is still for the first wave of our distribution of groceries.”
