ZAMBOANGA CITY – A 26-year-old fisherman was shot while fishing adjacent to a vessel of a big fishing company off the eastern coast of this city on Saturday, March 25.
Major Shellamie Chang identified the victim as Arkdaian Aguig Jamja, 26, a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Labuan, here.
Chang said Jamja and his companion, Gapur Alih, were fishing and were about to leave the area when they heard a gunshot from a nearby vessel owned by a big fishing company here.
The victim who was sitting on the top of the boat engine told his companion that he had been shot.
Jamja was said to have been shot in the forehead and was taken to a local hospital.
Police are probing a similar incident in the past where a security escort of a fishing firm was suspected to have shot a fisherman at sea.
