Makati employees, contract workers to receive salaries during quarantine period

By Jel Santos Employees of Makati City Hall---regulars, casuals, contractuals or job orders---will continue to receive their salaries and benefits while Makati City is under enhanced community quarantine, Mayor Abigail Binay announced on Friday afternoon. Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay (Twitter) Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay (Twitter) Binay announced on Twitter that all the 9,406 Makati City Hall employees will be paid their salaries and benefits as long as the city is under the quarantine for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Meantime, she expressed gratitude to all the dedicated employees of Makati City Hall. "Again, thank you so much for your loyal service and genuine care to our beloved Makatizens," she said in Filipino on Twitter. Because of the threat of posed by COVID-19, Binay said only the skeletal force of the City Hall is currently functioning. In the Executive Order No. 10 issued by Binay, curfew will be imposed in Makati City from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., but the members of the skeletal force of the local government are exempted. "Of course, there will be exemptions, for example call center agents, health workers, those going to airports, and skeletal force of the City Hall,” she earlier said. The mayor assured the city government is prepared for COVID-19 and its skeletal forces will always be available for residents. Binay advised residents to remain at their homes and stay calm.
