Makati City gov't to provide food packs to elementary, HS students amid Luzon quarantine

By Dhel Nazario The Makati City government will provide 81,995 food packs to students and their families next week amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Mayor Abigail Binay said the P85 million worth of food packs will be given to 44,951 elementary students from Kinder to Grade 6 and 37,044 high school students from Grade 7 to Grade 12. SPED (special education) learners are also included among the beneficiaries. Each elementary student will receive a bag containing a shirt, two packs of raisins, five single packs of instant oatmeal, one slab of cheese, one box of hotcake mix, one box of arroz caldo mix, two boxes of champorado mix, one pack of full cream milk, 12 packs of tonic food drink, two single packs of choco cereals, two packs of biscuits, two packs of chocolate flakes cereals, a 10-piece pack each of crackers and stick biscuits, a 10-piece pack of choco bite-size biscuits, and an 18-piece pack of assorted fruit-flavored jelly. Meanwhile, high school students will be given a shirt, six packs of instant oatmeal, a slab of cheese, one box each of hotcake mix and arroz caldo mix, two boxes of champorado, a pack of full cream milk, 12 single packs of tonic food drink, 10 single packs of crackers, eight packs of instant pancit canton, and a small can each of pineapple tidbits and pineapple juice. Mayor Abby urged students to stay home and follow curfew rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the city. The city on Monday started implementing a curfew policy from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. as part of its safety measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
