Complying with the government’s lockdown orders due to the coronavirus pandemic, local airlines - Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) and AirAsia, are cancelling all their domestic domestic flights to and from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Manila, from March 15 to April 14, 2020.
Despite the travel restrictions, international flights and domestic flights on routes other than their Manila hubs, such as those to and from Cebu, Clark, Kalibo and Davao. shall continue to operate within the one-month lockdown period.
Although local airlines have yesterday (March 13, 2020) announced they will cancel all flights coming in and going out of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for the one-month lockdown period which the government ordered to curb the coronavirus pandemic, cabinet officials announced flights from the metropolis will still be allowed subject to restrictions as of presstime.
Passengers can also re-book their flights to new travel dates after April 14, 2020 for free.
Aside from the free re-booking option, PAL passengers can opt to refund the full cost of the ticket with waivers of refund fees or re-route their ticket on the same fare class -fare difference rules apply.
CEB offers the option of putting the full cost of the ticket in a virtual wallet, or Travel Fund, which is valid for 180 days and can be used as payment for future bookings as far as 12 months out.
A second option is to avail of one re-booking with waived change fees - minimal fare differences may apply, or a free CEB Flexi, good for two re-bookings with waived change fees, subject to possible minimum fare difference.
AirAsia, which is cancelling 102 domestic flights to and from NAIA, offers three options as well.
Passengers can make a one-time flight change to a new travel date on the same route within 90 calendar days from the original flight date without additional cost, subject to seat availability.
Alternatively, they can credit the flight to their account, which means they retain the value of their fare in their AirAsia BIG Loyalty account for future travel with AirAsia.
The online credit account is to be redeemed for booking within 180 calendar days from the issuance date for your travel with us. The actual travel dates can be after the expiry date as long as our flight schedule is out.
A third option is to get a full refund. They can obtain a full refund of their original payment method for the amount equivalent to the booking they made.
