The Las Piñas City government is continuously addressing concerns about cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the city. On Tuesday, June 9, the city recorded 14 recoveries, considered the highest, surpassing the previous number of 13, which was set last May 27.
According to Las Piñas City Health Office (LPCHO) chief Dr. Ferdinand Eusebio, the 14 recovered patients came from the barangays of Almanza Uno, Almanza Dos, Pamplona Dos, Manuyo Uno, Manuyo Dos, Talon Dos, Pamplona Tres, Pulanglupa Uno, and Pamplona Uno.
Eusebio said the high number of recoveries was brought by the heightened conduct of screening and contact tracing to residents who have possible exposure with COVID-19 patients.
He cited the local government’s proper handling of the expanded targeted testing and focusing on the health protocol that safeguarded the health of the residents during this crisis.
Eusebio said that as of June 8, 4,234 individuals have undergone swab testing, while 4,180 took their rapid testing in the city.
Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar was relieved upon hearing the good news on the high number of recoveries from COVID-19.
"The local government will continue to support the fight in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19," Aguilar stressed.
She said the local police had been conducting a 24-hour patrol in the city to make sure that residents are following the health protocols of the government, such as the wearing of face mask in public places, observing social distancing and the curfew hour from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
As of June 8, confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city reached 344 of which 173 of them have already recovered, with 21 probable cases and 59 suspected cases. A total of 32 patients have died.
