KIDAPAWAN CITY – A number of persons under investigation (PUIs), or those who have manifested mild flu-like symptoms, would be placed under quarantine at a drive-in-hotel here for strict surveillance and monitoring.
City Information Officer Atty. Jose Paolo Evangelista said owners of Mount Apo Summit had volunteered to help the Kidapawan government by letting their facility to be used as isolation facility for free.
On Friday, Mayor Joseph Evangelista visited the facility for PUIs which will be managed by Dr. Hamir Hechanova and his staff.
Among the PUIs who agreed to stay in the hotel was a nurse who showed mild symptoms, like cough and fever, after being in the frontline of the local government’s fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for a week.
The city government has set up sanitation tents at the entrance and exit points of the hotel, according to Evangelista.
He said food would be served to the PUIs and all their needs will be provided for by the government in partnership with a non-government organization, With Love Jan Foundation, Inc.
As of March 27, data from the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) of the City Health Office (CHO), showed there were about 230 persons under monitoring (PUMs). Of the number, 44 had travel history abroad, while the rest traveled to Luzon.
Those that would manifested moderate to severe flu-like symptoms would be transferred immediately to a state-run hospital – either in Cotabato City or in
At least 204 PUMs and 14 PUIs have completed their 14-day self-quarantine. Of the PUIs, 12 were already cleared, while two patients remain at an undisclosed hospital.
The city, according to Evangelista, was still COVID-19-free.
