For his second time, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso tested negative for the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), he confirmed on Wednesday night.

(Manila City Public Information Office / MANILA BULLETIN) But Domagoso, who has been under self-quarantine for about a week, said he will continue to isolate himself to ensure the safety of those who work closely with him. “I have about seven days to go… this is just due diligence,” he said in his city address. “Ayoko rin na makapamerwisyo sa kapwa ko emplyeado dahil marami na sa amin ang naapektuhan (I do not want to aggravate my fellow employees because a lot of us have already been affected).” The local chief executive announced on March 29 that he placed himself under self-quarantine and underwent a second test, despite being asymptomatic, after meeting with government officials who tested positive for the disease. These include Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager Jojo Garcia and a department head of the Manila City government. Prior to this, Domagoso, along with some of his staff, was tested for COVID-19 following an official trip to the United Kingdom (UK). The Department of Health announced the city mayor’s negative test result after about four days in isolation.
