Iloilo City police net P8.1-M shabu in buy-bust

ILOILO CITY – Police arrested two suspected drug pushers and seized shabu valued at P8.1 million here on Monday, March 27.

Suspects Estrelita Pineda Bueno and Noe Yogoco Llagas Jr. were apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Buhang in Jaro District by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) and the Iloilo City Police Office-Jaro Police Station after they sold suspected shabu worth P72,000 to a poseur-buyer. The duo yielded a total of 1.6 kilos of shabu. Known as “Madam Ester,” the 68-year-old Bueno from Quezon City is considered a regional high-value drug personality. Major Rommel Anicete, RDEU-6 chief, said they received a tip that Bueno is bringing in a big shabu shipment from Luzon to Iloilo. Bueno arrived onboard a RORO ship that docked in Malay town, Aklan province before heading to this city and meeting with Llagas. Col. Joeresty Coronica, ICPO chief, supervised the operation. Coronica vowed to curb the illegal drugs trade in this city when he became the top cop at the end of January.
