The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday said that 52 more patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In its latest case bulletin, the DOH said that the total number of recoveries is now at 487.
The death toll increased to 387 after 25 more COVID-19 patients died, the DOH said.
Meanwhile, the Health department also recorded 218 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total cases in the country to 5,878.
Healthcare workers with COVID-19
In a press briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reported that there are already 766 healthcare workers who have been afflicted with the dreaded disease.
Of the said figure, 339 are doctors while 242 are nurses.
“Sa kasawiang palad, 22 na ang bilang ng healthcare workers na pumanaw mula sa COVID ,” she said.
Meanwhile, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III expressed gratitude for the services of the Filipino healthcare workers.
“We pray to God that He gives us the strength and understanding amid the difficulties we are facing,” said Duque in a statement.
“Let us do this for our loved ones and our countrymen, who are relying on us. Let us not surrender in this battle. We can win this,” he added.
