Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said that after the construction is completed, the PNP Medical Corps will manage the operation of the fully-airconditioned PICC health facility that will care for patients with mild to moderate cases of COVID-19.
The facility has 294 patient cubicles and six nurse stations. A total of six smart houses outside the Forum Halls were also turned over to PNP to be used by health workers.
Hospital beds and other equipment such as IV stands, wheelchairs, and defibrillators are now installed in the PICC facility, which will also have a mobile pharmacy and a mobile X-ray machine, the secretary said.
“In partnership with EEI Corp. and Vista Land Group, the Department of Public Work and Highways completed the PICC health facility three days ahead of schedule,” Villar said.
According to the PNP, 16 police, medical, and healthcare frontliners and a 42-member non-medical security augmentation contingent from the national headquarters assumed their posts Wednesday.
Earlier, the department announced that three mega tents within Cuidad de Victoria in Bulacan will be converted into quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients.
Villar said the agency is already “working for the modification of three mega tents.” If converted, the tents can accommodate about 440 patients exhibiting mild symptoms of COVID-19 and asymptomatic patients.
