Gunrunner arrested in Batangas


BATANGAS CITY – Police arrested a suspected gunrunner in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Balagtas here on Sunday, March 26.

The suspect was identified as Bryan Montejo, an alleged member of the Rapol Crime Group.

Montejo yielded a caliber 9mm, a caliber .22 rifle, three magazines for caliber.22 and caliber 9mm, 10 caliber 9mm rounds, four bullets for caliber .22, a suppressor, a Mitsubishi Space Wagon, and marked money.

Suspect was arrested under the “Oplan: Paglalansag Omega” and  “Salikop” campaign against loose firearms.

Montejo faces charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Suspect was tagged in gun-for-hire and gunrunning activities in Tanauan City and other parts of Batangas.

Montejo uses social media in his illegal transactions and posts pictures of licensed firearms as a front to lure customers into a purported legitimate transaction after which he offers unlicensed firearms for a bigger profit, police said.
