He said the DOJ offices have been disinfected and sanitized daily since June 18 after 72 personnel tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVId-19).
Six of those tested positive were later confirmed with COVID-19, he added.
Guevarra said he adopted the recommendation of DOJ Undersecretary Lean Sunga to close down the building.
Sunga reported: “We conducted daily sanitation/disinfection from June 18-27 in all our buildings/rooms… thus we can push through with the lifting of our lockdown tomorrow, June 29.”
Earlier, Guevarra had declared that those tested positive for COVID-19 should undergo the confirmatory polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
There are about 750 DOJ officials and employees based in its offices in Manila.
Despite the lockdown, there was no suspension of operations at the DOJ since officials and employees were required to work from home and skeleton work force was maintained so as not to disrupt vital services.
