Gov't updates list of persons allowed to go out

By Argyll Cyrus Geducos  The national government announced Sunday that it has updated the list of persons authorized to go outside of their residence during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) being implemented in Luzon to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). According to Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, officiating priests, pastors, and ministers are now allowed to go out but they shall be limited to conducting necrological services. Sari-sari store owners are now also allowed to go out, as well as staff and crew of carinderias engaged in delivery and takeout. Industrial, residential, hospital, and toxic garbage/waste collectors and drivers are now also exempted from the strict home quarantine. Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) and export-oriented business personnel are likewise allowed to go out of their homes. The IATF has authorized only one person per household to go out to avail himself/herself of necessary commodities from stores and pharmacies. Aside from those private individuals, health workers, emergency responders, funeral employees, security services, and bank and money transfer personnel may go out of their houses during the Luzon quarantine. Those working in establishments providing food were also exempted from the travel restrictions, as well as those working in supermarkets, groceries, and convenience stores. Public market vendors were also included. Pharmacists and drugstore employees are also able to come to work. Those working in energy, water, telecommunication, and sanitation companies are also excluded from the list of people who should stay at home.
