Gov't studying to use vacant lands for housing--Marcos

The government is studying the option of possibly using other vacant lands it owns in order to build more housing projects.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. made the announcement at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 4th Disiplina Village Phase 1 in Arkong Bato, Valenzuela City on Monday, March 27.
“Patuloy natin pinagaaralan kung papaano isasagawa ang pagtukoy at paggamit sa mga bakanteng lupa ng gobyerno na maaring tayuan ng mga pabahay ayon sa ating mga batas at alitintunin (We continue to study on how we can identify and use government’s vacant lands where we could build houses in accordance to our laws and regulations),” he said.
The President highlighted his administration’s relentless efforts to construct more housing projects for the benefit of many homeless Filipinos.
The 4th Disiplina Village, which will cover the construction of 1,200 housing units in 20 five-storey medium rise buildings, is in line with the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program.
It was part of the housing initiative spearheaded by the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) in partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Valenzuela City.
Marcos said that, while the government works to meet housing demand, he encouraged beneficiaries to maintain their houses in good condition.
He also recognized the active participation and important role of every LGU in supporting the national government, especially in initiating and completing housing projects.
He told the Valenzuela LGU to ensure that the beneficiaries would have enough opportunities for livelihood where they can use their talents and experiences.
Such housing projects wouldn’t be possible without the coordination between the national and local governments, as well as between different government agencies and the private sector, the Chief Executive stressed.
He cited Valenzuela as an example of the government’s effort to provide housing for Filipinos.
“Kaya naman hinihimok ko kayong lahat na ipagpatuloy ang pagtatayo ng dekalidad at abot kayang pabahay upang kayo ay patuloy na maging sandigan ng bawat Pilipino (That’s why I am enjoining you all to continue building quality and affordable housing so you will continue to become the support of every Filipino),” Marcos said.
