FFCCCII raises ₱265 M to help fight COVID-19

The Filipino-Chinese community has raised ₱265 million to help the government efforts against COVID-19, according to Henry Lim Bon Liong, president of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII).

Lim Bon Liong said 11 major Filipino Chinese organizations in the Philippines spearheaded by FFCCCII have helped raised donations under the Filipino Chinese Community Calamity Fund (FCCCF).
FCCCF, which is also chaired by Lim, is an on-going community-wide philanthropic campaign of fund-raising and anti-Covid-19 relief assistance project. FCCCF started raising donations from Filipino Chinese civic and cultural groups, entrepreneurs and professionals on March 12, 2020.
“In solidarity with our Filipino brothers and sisters in this unprecedented global pandemic crisis of Covid-19, the Filipino Chinese community – through the FCCCF comprised of 11 major Filipino Chinese business, civic and cultural organizations – has already raised ₱265 million pesos in donations as of April 14, 2020 in order to undertake on-going charities and civic projects to help alleviate the difficulties of our marginalized peoples whose livelihoods have been disrupted and to give strong support to our front-liners in the medical field, our police, soldiers and others,” said Lim Bon Liong in a statement.
As of April 14, the group has also distributed relief assistance to healthcare workers and ur¬ban poor families.
These assistance and relief aids include medical supplies such as N95 masks, surgical masks, Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs), gloves, safety goggles, sanitizing alcohol, thermos scanners and others have been donated to medical, police and military front-liners nationwide, including to public and private hospitals.
The Filipino-Chinese community has also donated food packs of five kilos rice and donations of rice sacks for the urban poor families of Metro Manila and to the rural poor in the provinces.
Aside from Lim Bon Liong, FCCF is ably assisted by two vice-chairmen Yang Huahong of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Associations of the Philippines and Mr. Lugene Ang of the Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (PCCCII).

(PCCCII), Overseas Chinese Alumni Association of the Philippines, World News Daily, Filipino Chinese Amity Club, Filipino Chinese Shin Lian Association, Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines, Philippine Soong Ching Ling Foundation, Philippine Jin Jiang Shen Fu Zhen Association, and World Fujian Youth Association & Business Club.
“Our Filipino Chinese community, especially the FFCCCII, has been actively coordinating with the Chinese Embassy through Ambassador Huang Xilian for the Philippines’ traditional friend and ancient trade partner China to send us their humanitarian assistance of medical supplies donations whether from the Chinese government, companies like Huawei or TikTok, philanthropists like Jack Ma,” said Lim Bon Liong.
