The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided P26.87 million relief assistance to the local government units (LGUs) which requested augmentation support during the enhanced community quarantine.
Based on the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations and Monitoring Information Center (DROMIC) report, as of March 24, a total of 71, 409 Family Food Packs (FFPs) have been distributed nationwide, 43, 300 of which were provided in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The report noted that the LGUs also provided P35.08 million relief assistance.
"The total augmentation request from DSWD NCR of 80,000 FFPs have been received by DSWD NRLMB (National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau). A total of 10,990 FFPs have already been delivered yesterday (March 23)," the DROMIC reported as of 6 a.m. of March 24.
Of the 10,990 FFPs, Las Piñas City received 1,950; Makati City, 1,100; Parañaque City, 3,000; Pasay City, 2,400; and Taguig City, 1,550.
As of March 23, there is a total of 98,892 assessed poor households within the NCR, the DSWD-DROMIC report noted.
"It is projected that a total of 988,920 FFPs is needed to sustain the poor households for the duration of the entire enhanced community quarantine," it said.
The DSWD assured the public that it has stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P1.85 billion--P1.15 billion standby funds in its Central Office and Field Offices (FOs), and P1.11 billion Quick Response Fund (QRF) in the Central Office.
"A total of 274,651 FFPs amounting to P99,424,892.12 and other food and non-food items (FNIs) amounting to P599,380,014 are available," the DROMIC report said.
Aside from NCR, the DSWD also provided FFPs to Regions III, V, VIII, XI, Cordillera Autonomous Region, and CARAGA.
The delivery of the relief supplies is in fulfillment of the DSWD's mandate to provide the LGUs with technical assistance and resource augmentation (TARA) during emergencies.
"The Department will continue to deliver relief supplies to LGUs," the DSWD said.
"DSWD ensures the delivery of unhampered public service during this critical period without prejudice to the health and safety of its personnel and beneficiaries," it added.
