DSWD: Over P50.1-B in SAP cash aid distributed

By Charissa Luci-Atienza More than P50.1 billion in Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash subsidies have been distributed to over 9.5 million beneficiaries nationwide, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Thursday (April 30). DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista said of the total amount, P33.3 billion has been distributed to low-income, non-Pantawid Pamilya (4Ps) families. The SAP beneficiaries also include 3,738,613 4Ps families who received P16.4 billion worth of emergency subsidies; and 40,418 families of transport network vehicle service (TNVS) and public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers who received a P323 million subsidy allocation. Bautista said the DSWD has downloaded P80.8 billion SAP funds to 1,515 local government units (LGUs) nationwide. He noted that the amount is 98.8 percent of the almost P81 billion funds transferred to the LGUs. The first wave of the cash subsidy has been allocated P100 billion. Bautista noted that of the 1,632 LGUs in the country, 104 LGUs have completed the SAP distribution. "Sa ngayon, 104 LGUs na po out of 1,632 ang naka 100 percent payout," he said. "Ine-encourage ang sambayanan na sumama sila at maging guwardiya para ma-ensure na ang dapat na makatanggap ng ayuda ay dapat makatanggap," he added. Under Republic Act No. 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act, 18 million low-income households are entitled to receive an emergency subsidy ranging from P5,000 to P8,000, depending on the minimum wage level in a region for two months starting April.
